Discover Programme - June deadline (maybe thing about for 2027?)

this just launched:

up to 300,00 for 2 year projects

I was looking at this section:

  • 2.5 Partnerships

  • 2.5.1. Co-Funding Partnership with the Department of Education and Youth

  • The Research Ireland Discover Programme Call includes a co-funding partnership with the Department of Education and Youth. The partnership is based on alignments to areas as identified under the STEM Education Policy Statement and STEM Education Implementation Plan and are of particular significance to the Department of Education

and I was thinking if we were to create TY / secondary school workshops, exploring thing slike game dev / data science / introduciton to coding using Celbridege, maybe a link with the STEM educaiton group with someone in Department of Education and Youth could work really well

  • i.e. funding to the Celbridge Foundation for a tour of workshops around Ireland in schools and youth centres
  • (I’m thinking how well the TY work experience seems to be going this week

but getting contact with Department of Education and Youth and putting together a strong aplicaiotn for June 11 is probably too much to aim for - but maybe could begin to explore the groundwork for a submission in 2027, hopefully when Foundation setup and we have some nice feedback from a few workshops as evidence of success to argue case to take workshops on national tour ….

It sounds like the Co-Funding Partnership approach is optional though? I’m wondering if we could apply for a similar series of workshops and training material (but aimed at third level education) in this round, and then maybe follow it up next year with another proposal for a similar program for secondary level? Third level is a natural fit because Celbridge is already being used to teach coding in TU Dublin. This initial funding application could be about extending that so it can be used for teaching in other Irish and European universities?
