NGIO commons fund - deadline 1st Feb 2026

I was just looking at this

initial projects can apply for 5,000 - 50,000 (follow-on projects can apply for up to 500,000)

I was wondering about:

  1. localisation feature - allowing all of Celbridge UI text to be offered in different languages

  2. runtime platforms - porting to Linux/MacOS/RaspberryPi …

both seem to be in the long list of example projects already funded:

the form itself doesn’t look to long to fill int

  • I think it’s 2-3 months before you hear result of application
  • so this fund would support non-core features that would be useful to develop in Q2/Q3 of 2026 ….

applicant can be an individual - doesn’t need to be a university or company …

.. matt ..

The NGI0 Fediversity fund would definitely make sense for a few-week project to add Linux support to Celbridge. I expect that would get us most of the way to Mac & Raspberry Pi support as well.

Not so sure about localization. We’re already using localized strings, all we’re missing is the actual translations. I wouldn’t actually translate anything though until we’re at v1.0 because the strings are being updated constantly. I’m sure there’s lots of other useful projects we could apply for though, e.g. adding LSP & debugger support for Python.

Looks like we can also get support from NGI0 for accessibility, community building and mentoring, copyright and license due diligence, diversity and inclusion, localization, etc.

I submitted an application for the NGI Fediversity fund for a project to port Celbridge to NixOS (a Linux distro focused on reproducible builds). My dream of seeing Celbridge running on a Raspberry Pi may yet come true :star_struck:
